3 Days, 3 Ways Joe Lombardo Dodges Accountability: Health Care Edition

While Joe Lombardo refuses to debate Attorney General Aaron Ford, NV Dems is launching a new series to highlight some of the many ways he’s dodged accountability for his cost-of-living crisis. On day two, we’re calling out Joe Lombardo’s health care crisis that pads Big Pharma’s pockets and leaves working families behind.

After Lombardo endorsed Trump’s plans to raise ACA premiums, tens of thousands of Nevadans’ insurance costs increased to an estimated average of nearly $800 a month — a 34% spike. No Show Joe even said Nevadans should be “excited” about the GOP budget bill even though our state is one of the hardest hit by the bill’s funding and health care cuts. This all follows Lombardo vetoing legislation to lower prescription drug costs and then receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in political donations from the pharmaceutical industry. 

“It’s no surprise that Joe Lombardo is too chicken to take accountability for helping Donald Trump gut health care from hundreds of thousands of Nevadans, ” said Nevada State Democratic Party spokesperson Kate Sosland. “On Lombardo’s watch, NICUs are shuttering, health care workers are getting laid off, and families can’t afford life-saving prescriptions. No Show Joe owes Nevadans answers after spending the last three and half years raising costs.”

• Endorsing Trump’s plans to raise ACA premiums and force 115,000 Nevadans off their health care
  
• Supporting Trump’s Medicaid cuts that will cost the state millions and has already laid off health care workers and shuttered critical services at hospitals
  
• Falsely taking credit for Nevada’s first standalone children’s hospital after backing Trump’s steep Medicaid cuts that have jeopardized whether it can even open
  
• Calling the state public health option — which will give hundreds of thousands of Nevadans more options for more affordable care — “bullshit”
