Ethically Bankrupt Stavros Anthony’s Culture of Corruption Comes at a Cost for Nevadans

As Assembly Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui unveils her ethics agenda to hold corrupt politicians accountable, Stavros Anthony, one of the most corrupt politicians in Nevada, remains mired in scandals so extreme that even Republicans are calling him out for it. To make matters worse, Anthony recently said “I am not here to carry Nevadans, they need to carry themselves” as families struggle to pay for groceries, gas, health care, and housing. While Anthony uses his office budget for a record breaking amount of travel, it’s clear his corruption comes at a cost for Nevada families.

To recap Anthony’s culture of corruption, he has been:

  • Fined for violating multiple state ethics laws including using government resources for personal political gain
  • Asked to complete ethics training by the Nevada Commission on Ethics
  • Accused of age discrimination after he fired a longtime staffer and replaced her with a partisan hack with no government experience
  • Leveraged his government resources to promote his book
  • Used his status as a police captain to secure an international business class seat on a commercial flight
  • Directed taxpayer-funded state employees to campaign for GOP candidates during state business hours
